Chiriya
Tapu beach is one of the most popular
beaches in the Andaman and Nicobar
islands, not only because of countless
miles of beaches of white sand, but
the peaceful march through the lush
mangroves. The Chiriya Tapu beach
is known for its picturesque beauty
and is a paradise for bird-watchers.
Some of the rarest species of birds
can be found on Chiriya Tapu, hence
the name of the beach. Observe birds
in a calm, with only their chattering
and chirping and the sound of waves,
your visit to Chiriya Tapu beach is
sure to be memorable. Located in south
Andaman, about 33 km south of Port
Blair, capital and the only entry
point to Andaman and Nicobar Islands,
it takes about an hour's drive to
Chiriya Tapu beach.
There are many ways
to get to Chiriya Tapu beach once
you are in Port Blair. Although taxis
can save time, but a little expensive,
there are buses at an interval of
a few hours from Port Blair Chiriya
Tapu, a journey which may take up
to an hour and a half. The last bus
Chiriya Tapu comes at 7:00 pm. It
is also a cheaper and more exciting
option to rent a moped, a journey
which is not as chaotic as it is picturesque.
Chiriya Tapu is a small village and
its inhabitants live on fishing and
occasionally tourists who flock to
the beach Chiriya Tapu, particularly
during the high season early November
to late April. The calm and peace

The small village
was aptly named by the inhabitants
of Chiriya Tapu, the literal translation

Bar-bellied Cuckooshrike, drongo Andaman
Andaman Treepie, Asia Moucherolle
Brown, White-rumped Shama, white-headed
Starling, Pacific Swallow, Oriental
White-eye, Pale-footed Warbler, Olive
- backed Sunbird, among others.
There are many tours
