Lakshadweep, the
smallest union territory of India,
is located in the western part of
the Arabian Sea and covers a total
area of 32km2. The 36 islands and
islets, which only seven islands are
inhabited, adorn this place. Among
all these islands, the principle is
the following, Agatti, Amini, Kavaratti
and Minicoy. The islands are known
for the exotic beaches, making tourism
one of the most important sectors
of Lakshadweep. Beaches in Lakshadweep
have encouraged and attracted tourists
from all over the world.

of Lakshadweep are not accessible
and to visit other islands certain
permits are required. The islands
of Lakshadweep are known mainly for
tourism and water sports. Tourists
take great pleasure in basking in
the sun, enjoying the water sports,
swimming in the lagoons of deep blue
and walk on the beaches of Lakshadweep.

The government plans
to further open up the islands, giving
most of the major tourist destinations.
